Dear Friends,

It’s lovely to be able to start the week with some good news.

As many of you will already know  from the monthly email which was sent direct to your inbox last week,  I am pleased to be able to let you know that we will be holding our Annual Federation Meeting  on-line on Wednesday April 28th from 10.00am -11.30am. The main speaker will be Chef Brian Turner CBE plus we have Mary Rhodes from BBC Midlands News.

Full details and booking information will be shared with your WI secretary later in March.  Tickets will cost £5 per member, although each WI will have one free delegate place.   Unfortunately, places will be limited to THREE per WI plus the free delegate ticket but we will operate a waiting list for places so do put your name down if you would like to attend.

Your Board of Trustees met this week and were delighted to co-opt two new members to the team. They are Anita Dudley (Treacle Tarts WI) and Trish Handsley  (Newbold Pacey and Ashorne WI).   You will be able to view their biographies on the website soon and no doubt you will be meeting them in due course.

The Public Affairs Committee have written a helpful and informative Newsletter which is also available on the website.  Do take a look when you can! (It’s on the Campaigns page)

I hope that you are all getting your entries ready for our Spring Show- I am really looking forward to making my Simnel Cake – but I can’t make up my mind whether to go traditional or modern at the moment!  The classes are:

CLASS 1 EASTER EXTRAVAGANZA CAKE
CLASS 2 EGGS, EGGS, EGGS
CLASS 3 EASTER BONNET
CLASS 4 SIMNEL CAKE
CLASS 5 SPRING BULBS AND FLOWERS

And I am really looking forward to seeing the entries on the website. Don’t forget that you can always ask a friend or fellow WI member to email your entries in for you if you need to !

Finally I am sorry to say that Sue Gill has decided to step down from the Board of Trustees, she was a much valued member of the team and made a great contribution. I am sure you will all join me in thanking her and wishing her well for the future.

Looking forward to the day when we can meet in person once again,

Best wishes

Anne
