Craft Survey 2021
– Creative Activities

Thanks to those members who completed the Federation Creative Activities (CA) Committee online survey in the summer.  We were keen to get our members’ steer on where to focus our efforts in offering future craft workshops.  By the end of September 2021, 59 responses had been received.  Highlights below:

69% would prefer to participate in workshops on a face-to-face basis; 9% preferred an online offering and 22% would be happy with either/both.

In terms of popularity: calligraphy; learning to crochet; re-styling items of clothing and beginners dressmaking/using a pattern came out top.  These were followed closely by how to use a sewing machine; applique and learning basic hand embroidery stitches.  For those wanting to improve on existing skills: hand embroidery; knitting and crochet; machine sewing for dressmaking and embroidery were all popular.

We asked if there were crafts not already mentioned that members might wish to try and received many varied suggestions.

73% of responding members were interested in using crafts to raise funds for their WI.

We asked if anyone was skilled sufficiently to run a workshop for members and had three members come forward.  There were also three members who were interested in finding out more of the work of the CA Committee.  All of these members will be contacted by members of the CA Committee in due course.

Plans for 2022 are being formulated, taking your feedback into account.  It is regrettable that so many of our 2020 and 2021 workshops had to be postponed due to the global pandemic but most are being re-scheduled.  Please be assured that the safety of you, our members will always be at the forefront in our planning.

We look forward to welcoming many, many members of WIs across Warwickshire to craft workshops in 2022 and beyond.
