Dear Friends,

Well, another week has gone by and we are all adjusting to this strange new world. I hope that you are keeping well and that your family and friends are too.

Although the Federation Office has been closed, we are all working at home to try to keep you all up to date with what is happening. I meet with Sarah every morning on a video link and we sort out what needs to be done to keep everything ticking over. She and Kathy have been kept very busy processing the refunds for cancelled events and making sure that the money reaches your WI Treasurers. Sue Myhill, our Federation Treasurer is masterminding this and she is doing a great job.

I have been working with Johnsons Coaches to discuss the possibility of postponing the Grand Day Out. We have agreed a new date of Monday 26th October, it’s half term so we should still be ok for parking. We all think that the new date should give us all something to look forward to!

If you are on-line then I do hope that you are following the Federation on social media and the Warwickshire website. The Trustees Top Tips feature and Check in With the Chair are quite popular.

The Federation is using email, video calling and various apps as means of communication for internal matters and I am delighted to have been asked by Nuneaton Acorns WI to speak to their members on ZOOM on their regular meeting night. If your WI is trying to meet digitally then please let us know as we are very interested to see how you get on.

Just a quick reminder for all our knitters- don’t forget that we are Knitting for the Homeless as usual and I am sure there will still be a great need for hats, scarves, gloves and socks . We would like to get your contributions to the people who need them in early October so please help if you can.

One of the benefits of being in the WI has been brought home to us all during this period of self-isolation- Isn’t it lovely to have the time to phone our friends and fellow members for a chat and to email, write a letter or a postcard. We might feel lonely sometimes but we know we are never truly alone because we are the WI !!

Take care of yourselves and I look forward to seeing you soon.

With very best wishes

Anne
