Dear Friends

I do hope you are keeping well and are in touch with your friends and fellow members. It’s been a busy week at Federation leve l- the internet has been humming with all the ideas and things we are trying to do for the benefit of our membership…

Thank you to all those of you who have entered our various competitions on-line and I hope you have had a chance to view the Galleries on our website to see the latest entries! Don’t forget that entries close for the Poetry Competition Thursday 18th June at 12 noon

We have two great pieces of news for you this week:

1. We have decided to cancel the WFWI Produce and Craft Show due to be held in August. Instead we are going to run a Virtual Show. The classes and judging criteria will be with you shortly, and will be posted on the website. We would like you to send in photographs of your entries, the classes will have different entry dates spread across August and September. We will not be able to judge the entries in the normal way, so the judging will be on aesthetics, colour combinations, presentation etc – unless otherwise stated. Do please try and take the best possible photo of your entries (have a look on our You tube channel for some tips from David Clarke)
2. We are going to run some events for members on ZOOM- when up to a hundred members will be able to participate. The first one will be on Monday 22nd June between 7 and 8 pm when Louise Grey will tell us about her travels and adventures for Silver Sentiments. This event is free of charge to members. Full details are on our website.
As the Lockdown continues to ease we will all begin to think about re-starting parts of our lives which have been on hold. Many of our WIs have continued to meet on-line and it has been heartening to hear of the many ways in which you have all looked after your fellow members. Won’t it be lovely to be able to meet up in person ? It may be a while before we can do so safely but it’s good to be able to see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Looking forward to seeing you later in the year.

Stay safe

Best wishes
Anne
