Say 5th June

Never let it be said…

That a drop of rain will put you off. Our intrepid Jubilee BBQ Squad were determined the event would go ahead today! Amazing how you can decorate a machinery shed with a bit of bunting and have a great time!

Friday 3rd June

Fantastic Experience today!

Many of you will know that Ray’s Dad was a Rear Gunner in Lancaster Bombers during the Second World War. Only 18 and survived 34 missions. Anyway, as part of the Jubilee celebrations Atherstone had a Flypast  by the only remaining Lancaster. What a tremendous moment!

Thursday 2nd June

Ready for the Jubilee.

In common with almost every WI member in Warwickshire I have spent most of the week getting ready for the Jubilee in our village! As we have seven windows in the church we decided to decorate each one for a different decade! It worked really well.

Tuesday 31st May

A busy day…

Lots of WI stuff done today , as I know the Jubilee is going to take up the rest of the week.

We are almost there with the appointment of two new part-time Administrators so watch out for more news shortly!  I am still trying to keep on top of the emails and queries as well as manufacturing spreadsheets to record bookings for various things…..

Great Zoom tonight about Insurance and Risk assessments- not too many Wis there but those who came were very helpful! Thanks ladies.

My Dad is all ready for the Jubilee!

Our Annual Garden Open Day…

Returned today after an enforced two year break. It was great to see friends old and new and we raised a considerable sum for the upkeep of the village church. Lots of support from Trustees and members of local WIs. Great fun!

Tuesday 24th May

Great to have a Live meeting today.

With Veronica and the Leisure Activities Team.  Lots of fun planning a range of activities for later in the year!

AND… What an evening I had at the Anker Group Meeting in Nuneaton. The company was great, the jacket potatoes were enormous and the speaker, Charles Hanson was brilliant!  I spent rather more than I was expecting to… but that’s another story!

Thursday 19th May

Mailing Day!

Every Thursday I write to all the WI secretaries with reminders and news from National BUT the third Thursday of the month is very different as it is MAILING DAY. This is the day I send out the digital mailing with details of all the events, flyers, posters and news for WIS. I also put all the relevant information on the website for the WI Secretaries to download.

It takes a bit of organising but I got it all done… PHEW!

Ray decided it was time to get the bunting out as well so there I was footing a ladder when I needed to be emailing…

Wednesday 18th May

William, The Royal Butler

Provided us with some fabulous entertainment at the Polesworth Group Meeting tonight. Everyone was all dressed up in the finery and pearls! A great night was had by all!

Thursday 12th May

Resolution Time!

Got the weekly Thursday mailing out today and then enjoyed meeting with my own WI and neighbouring WI Austrey – we always share our Resolutions Briefing meeting which makes the debate much bigger and more fun! It was lovely to see everyone and then we had borrowed the Curling Set from Federation. Hilarious!

Wednesday 11th May

Nearly there!

A group of Trustees visited Dallas Burston today to do the site planning for the AFM.

Looked everywhere but we couldn’t find Winnie! I reckon she was hiding in Long Itchington!!

It was hard trying to remember everything that we have to put in place to ensure that the meeting goes like clockwork!

Tuesday 10th May

What a day!

Board meeting to discuss our Investment Strategy, followed by a full scale revie3w of every policy which the Federation holds! Then a little drive down the County to visit the members of Kineton WI. It was really nice to see everyone face to face!

Thursday 5th May

Mailing day and it was also time to get all the Policies out to the Board for review next week. Thank goodness I had time leftover to get out in the garden!
