Queens Green Canopy in Warwickshire

QUEENS GREEN CANOPY – THE QUEEN’S GREEN CANOPY IN WARWICKSHIRE

We are writing to you from Warwickshire County Council and the Warwickshire Lieutenancy, to encourage your organisation to take part in the The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) – a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”

Everyone from individuals to Scout and Girl guiding groups, villages, cities, counties, schools, care homes and corporates will be encouraged to play their part to enhance our environment by planting trees from October, when the tree planting season begins, through to the end of the Jubilee year in 2022.

With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.
It is hoped that as many people as possible will be able to support this inclusive and far-reaching initiative.

Warwickshire County Council and the Warwickshire Lieutenancy fully support the scheme and are encouraging the planting of as many trees as possible in Warwickshire. We are doing this, firstly, to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee for the remarkable 70 years of service she has given us, and secondly, as an important initiative in the fight against climate change.

The Queen’s Green Canopy (queensgreencanopy.org) explains everything from how to plant, what to plant, where one may get help in obtaining trees and how to attach your tree to the map

It is so easy to plant and look after trees and they are such wonderful things. Again the QGC website and the www.woodlandtrust.org.uk have all information that people will require.
The cost of the trees is small. Trees can be bought at Garden Centres and tree nurseries from £1.50 up and the Woodland Trust has 3 million trees on a first come first served basis for those that qualify. Then all you need is a spade and a place to plant.
