Outings & Events
Every outing or event featured here are advertised through Flyers which are sent to the WIs in our monthly mailings. You can also download the current ones from this site by clicking on the appropriate events in the listings.
Bookings are made through your WI Secretary, you tell her that you would like a ticket for the event or trip and pay her the correct fee. She will collate all of the orders, complete the necessary forms and order the tickets from Federation House for you. We are sorry but at the moment we are unable to process ticket requests from individual members.
Sometimes events and visits are open to guests. However, our 4000+ Warwickshire WI members will always be our priority.
June 25 @ 7:45 am - 4:45 pm£59
In Georgian London the Gin Craze took hold. Drunk for a penny, dead drunk for two with fresh straw to fall on. We explore the London immortalised in William Hogarth’s Gin Lane from the rookeries of St Giles-in-the-Fields and Seven Dials to posh St Martin-in-the Fields.
In the afternoon we tour London’s oldest gin distillery.
We will meet our Blue Badge Guide at 10.30am to buy morning refreshments before visiting St Giles, and as we walk across the old fields (don’t look for grass!) we tell the story of London in four drinks: beer, tea, coffee and gin. With the Vox headsets you won’t miss a word. There will be free time in Trafalgar Square to buy lunch. Visit the National Portrait Gallery or bring a packed lunch to eat during a free lunchtime concert at St Martin-in-the-Fields.
After lunch we will visit London’s oldest surviving gin distillery the iconic Beefeater London Dry Gin to experience a sensory understanding of the ingredients including a tutored tasting of two premium Beefeater gins. The tour ends with a complimentary Beefeater Gin & Tonic or soft drink alternative (non-drinkers get a gin miniature to take home for a friend!)
We will be heading home from Kennington at 4.45pm.
