WHO’S WHO

Anne Bufton-McCoy

Chair of Warwickshire Federation
Digital Strategy Leader

I became an honorary member of the WI at the tender age of seven- when, full of enthusiasm, I sold my Mum’s coat at a WI Jumble sale! In our household the WI was a way of life and when we had to move from Northamptonshire to Coleshill in 1967 it was but a small step to meeting new friends at Over Whitacre WI. Once married I moved to Seckington…… disaster – no WI, no pub, just 23 houses!

Not to worry, there was a thriving WI at Newton Regis so I joined immediately. Over the years I think I held most posts on the committee and was persuaded to join the County Public Affairs Committee. What an interesting world I discovered- the Trustees and the sub committees run a huge machine known as Warwickshire WI. The amount of organisation behind even the smallest event amazed me. I tried my hand at running trips to places of interest, baking biscuits for Women Reaching Women Days and helping with Trustee events.

I was thrilled to be asked to join the Board of Trustees and enjoy the variety of work which comes my way. As Vice Chair I held responsibilities for Strategic Planning and the Digital Future of Warwickshire WIs.

I am now starting a new adventure as Chair of the Federation- as we begin our second century of Inspiring Women- what an exciting time to be part of this fabulous organisation. The Trustee team is very strong and I am looking forward to great times ahead!

I’m a keen gardener, cook and passionate devotee of Denman College. Love the WI!
