“All Change, All Change : The unexpected journey from TV to Trains!”

Many of us know what it’s like when – completely out of the blue – life throws you a curved ball. That’s exactly what happened to me, just before Christmas 2020. Having spent almost 40 years working for the BBC on radio and television as a sports reporter / presenter … my career as a broadcast journalist came to an abrupt end.  The impact of COVID meant that the BBC – in common with many organisations – was downsizing, and suddenly, I was surplus to requirements!  So what happened next?  All is revealed in my illustrated talk … based entirely upon my own personal experiences as a Tour Manager with Great Rail Journeys.  New countries, quirky customers, fascinating characters and occasional calamities are all part of life’s rich tapestry on the railways of UK, Europe and beyond.
