Members Newsletter – April 2024

Dear Members

Well, we are still waiting for some warmer weather, aren’t we? Although it has – almost – stopped raining! My poor, beautiful tulips I bought last year look totally fed up with their wet feet!

We had a wonderful evening with Lesley Smith as Peggy Knight, moving us all to tears to hear about this most amazing woman, who has nearly been forgotten by history.

Twenty two ladies joined me at the Old Coventrians Rugby Club having a great time helping filming the promotional video for the collaboration between the RFU and The WI for their community engagement programme in the lead up to the Women’s Rugby World Cup next year. We played walking rugby – it was so much fun we are looking at doing a few more sessions. Keep your eyes out for the video and the sessions!

We have a few afternoons at Federation House to make Mors bags – so please come along to join in, learn or to pick up some material to make some at home.

All our events are listed below – don’t forget to book early to avoid disappointment.

Finally, can I ask you to remember us when you are baking? We are doing tea and cake at Ragley Hall at the end of June and need lots of cakes. We will let you drop offs for frozen cake and fresh cakes.

I look forward to seeing you at our various events and at your WIs in the coming months.
