Members Newsletter – March 2024

Dear Members

I hardly dare say it – but I think spring is here at last!

The blossom on the trees always makes us smile and altering the clocks this weekend for the lighter night really makes us turn our thoughts to summer.

At WFWI we have lots planned for the summer including a trip to David Austin Roses combined with some time in Bridgnorth in July. We are also going to Chester – please remember to book on the right pick up, as there are 7 different pick up points.
A bit closer is the farm tour and lunch – if you have never visited a dairy farm, you will find it fascinating. The next Serious Science is in April too.

There is still some space for the Chutney demonstration on May 18th.
Our speaker event in June is Martin Sirot-Smith – much more information about him can be found on the Warwickshire WI website. The Craft committee are busy planning events for the autumn so look out for those!

It is that time of year for the payment of your subscription, it is £48.00 this year, which when you think of all the things you do with WI and all the things the WI does for you it is great value! Just the access to the Learning Hub free courses alone is worth so much, non-members are charged £5.00 per course. Please have a look at The WI learning hub as there are more things being added all the time – look at the e-learning courses as well as the other live and on demand courses. There is something for everyone!

This year we will be electing a new Board of Trustees for the federation; nomination forms are with your secretary. If you or another member of your WI would make a great Trustee (all Trustees are great!) please think about putting your name forward.

I’m off to do some sewing now, my niece is getting married in July and I am going to make her a little something to carry with her from my Mum’s wedding dress – I fear I may get lost in Pinterest.
