October Chair’s Blog

Dear Members,

I hope you are all enjoying your Autumn meetings, it’s so lovely to all be getting together again!

I was very privileged, as Federation Chairman, to represent the Warwickshire Federation at the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving on the Eve of the Funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at St Mary’s Church Warwick. It was a beautiful service conducted by the Bishop of Coventry. We did send a card expressing our deepest sympathy to the Royal Family on behalf of our members.

We have been working hard behind the scenes planning some interesting and varied events for you to enjoy in the coming months. A few of the events will shortly be closing, so get your tickets soon.
We are trying to move events around the federation so if something is of interest to you but is it miles away, please let us know because if we have enough interest, we can repeat the event in another area. We do understand that using TicketSource is difficult for some – please ask your WI to help you to book something if you are unsure or get together with a couple of friends as you can buy more than one ticket at a time. If there is no one in your WI then please get in touch with your Federation contact, who will be only too happy to help you and your WI. Their information is on the website, and your WI secretary can access it there.

Your secretary has had some copies of the Federation Quiz – it is Capital Cities this year – they are £1.00 each and a really great challenge for the winter evenings or around the dinner table. There is also the chance of winning!

We are planning a plant sale in May and would be very grateful for any donations closer to the time.

Don’t forget to follow us on social media for up-to-date news from WFWI and other local WIs.

I heard a WI President remind her members to Keep Talking, Keep Listening and to Keep Caring and I ask you in true WI style to do the same!
