I give 20 different talks on the stagecoach history, travel overland to Nepal, to Uganda and to Antarctica and my career as a newspaper editor and meeting the late Queen when I was awarded the MBE.
My trip to the end of the world: An amazing journey of three holidays in one to Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and
Argentina to see the wildlife, history and remote locations of these three incredible destinations.
Hitting the headlines as a newspaper editor: I have been editor of four papers, plus running my own newspaper. I speak
about the joys of being an editor, what goes on at a weekly newspaper and my best stories.
How the stagecoach transformed your area: I talk about how the stagecoach led to an economic boom at the end of the 18th
century, the eccentric drivers, the characters and the many famous people who used this mode of transport.
Meeting the Queen at the Palace: I speak about my day at Buckingham Palace and what I did to be awarded the MBE for
services to journalism and charity by the Queen. I also show a DVD of the event.
The nurse who changed Guinea-Bissau: Nurse Lily Gaynor brought a health revolution to a remote tribe who had never seen
a white person in this remote West African country dominated by witchdoctors.
Adventures in Uganda: I spent a fortnight in this African country visiting a remote school. I also flew on an aid plane to
isolated villages as well as visiting the source of the Nile and journeying on Lake Victoria.
My six of the best Christmases: I talk about my most famous guest, my biggest surprise, an unusual present, the problems of
looking after overseas students and my 8,500-mile trip home for a family Christmas.
