The Art of Weaving

This talk introduces weaving as an art form. I’ll provide a brief history of weaving and present internationally renowned women artists such as Anni Albers, Olga de Amaral and Shiela Hicks, who have all been significant figures in raising the profile and credibility of weaving as an art form. I’ll present a series of woven pieces from my own practice and give an overview of weaving techniques such as Jacquard, tapestry and multiple shaft weaving.

I am a practicing textile artist as well as published textile design researcher and I can also provide practical hand weaving workshops, please get in touch if you’d like to discuss this option.
