Tales of A Travel Rep’

The expression “There’s Nowt so Queer as Folk” is known to many but is rarely proved more true than when working with people in the travel industry. This is about some of the beautiful places I have worked, but more importantly, the people I have met and the experiences!

‘Travels With My Daughter’

I have a very special relationship with my daughter and we always have fun and adventures together. Whilst she was growing up, I tried to take her to different destinations as apart from my love of travel, I believe that travel broadens understanding of different cultures and peoples. This talk includes Nuweiba in Egypt, Morocco, Cuba, Stockholm & The Ice Hotel in Swedish Lapland with some beautiful photos and stories of some of our antics!

‘Naples: The Beauty and the Beast’.

Naples is a city of huge diversity There are wonderful art treasures, some so tucked away that unless you have done your homework well, you will never know existed. The beauty of Naples is second to none, but there is also a dark, dangerous and deadly side of this region.

‘A Ride Along the Amalfi Coast’.

Join me on a trip along the world-famous Amalfi Coast. A trip of discovery, beautiful photos and interesting facts, you will want to be packing your suitcases to explore this amazing region yourself!

‘Curious Christmas’

A trip through Europe to discover the weird, wonderful and somewhat strange peculiarities of the Christmas traditions

‘The Bard’s Italy’.

.A different slant to this subject, did he or didn’t he visit Italy, that is the question? The talk illustrates the Bard’s love of Italy, exploring many of the Italian cities that were written about. How masks play such an important role and the background of different cultures and religions that play part in his plays.

A Love Affair with Italian Cuisine’.

Most people love Italian food, but where did it originate from? Where did the first takeaways come from? Were the Italians really the first to make ice cream? Fascinating facts about the background of the Italian cuisine.

2/2 ‘The Enchanted Island’.

Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake, has 5 islands with the Island of Garda, or La Isola de Garda being the largest. Privately owned, it has a fascinating history which includes Saint Francis de Assisi, the Russian connection, a famous car race and even a monster! I’m not saying any more!

‘Revealing Ravenna: The Mosaic’s of a City’.

Ravenna is often missed when visiting Italy, unless of course, you are a serious art student. This talk is an introduction to the city, which houses not one, but eight UNESCO sites, magnificent

Byzantine mosaics and the famous names who have been inspired by the city and its artistic beauty.

‘ The Delta’s Secrets: A Journey Along The River Po’

The Po River runs the breadth of Italy. Our journey begins in the fascinating city of Ferrara, often overlooked by tourists. Then on to the capital of the Po Delta, Comacchio, also known as ‘Little Venice’, A charming

town with its many bridges and its thriving eel industry. Finally, the Po Delta itself with its very special beauty which flows into the Adriatic Sea and we’ll discover why its port is named after Garibaldi.

‘Three Spokes in a Catherine Wheel’.

Throughout history one has seen amazing women making their mark ; the Byzantine Empress Zoe, Cleopatra, Boudicca, Florence Nightingale, Emmeline Pankhurst, Amelia Earhart, Mother Teresa, Evita, Valentina Tereshkova – to name but a few, but others that have had their identities omitted, withdrawn or played down such as Mary Seacole or Mary Magdalene.

I was drawn to three women all sharing the same name, Catherine. I have chosen one, a modern woman, an icon in entertainment for 60 years and a trailblazer for her forward thinking, whilst the other two, both queens, made their names great in countries different from their original place of birth and both earning huge respect from their subjects.
