Willow Weaving last week- (Report by Trish Handsley)

On a chilly November Friday, great concentration was expended by WI members attending a willow weaving workshop in Ashorne Village Hall. 24 ladies from WIs around the county signed up for morning or afternoon sessions to construct their own plant support using hazel and willow under the guidance of our country crafts expert, Bert Manton. Although most would admit they were daunted at the prospect, all went home with their completed item – some even made a star for the top.

At least three of the attendees had been to a previous workshop of Bert’s and were back to make another plant support as a matching pair or for a gift. Look out for 2024 willow weaving workshops from your Warwickshire WIs Creative Activities Committee.
