Spotlight on Sub Committee Members

In Warwickshire we have four very active sub committees. They meet every other month and along with the Board of Trustees they arrange all the trips, workshops, talks and lunches that we offer to members

Creative Activities
Leisure Activities
Public Affairs
Membership & Promotions

Each committee is chaired by a Trustee and made up of WI members from all corners of the county.
We thought it would be nice to showcase these volunteers and so here you go …

The sub committee event I am most looking forward to – is a women’s health event scheduled for next June 2022. We hope here to give women up to date research based information on ageing well, the issues to be prepared for, HRTand it’s benefits and how to stay well as we continue to age.
My favourite place in Warwickshire – got to be my home town of Nuneaton. Whilst it might not be the prettiest place to be due to its industrial past and more recently an increase in deprivation, it has wonderful people and a great community.  I have fabulous friends and family here and can always find lots of fun stuff to do. I do enjoy visiting Norfolk though and go regularly during the summer.
Last book I read – ‘Cactus’ by Sarah Haywood. Excellent read, would definitely recommend it.
My hobbies are – I’ve recently started cycling more and got myself a new road bike and I love it! I also have 2 daft miniature schnauzers that I love and they also get me out and about. It’s surprising how much having a dog gets you chatting to people!  I have 4 grown up children, 2 still at home, one who has just started university in Loughborough.  I work part time for an art organisation and enjoy anything creative. I also recently started refreshing my skills as a beauty therapist (my previous job) with a view to opening my own ‘in home’ salon at some point in the future.
